Alex Gambal

Alex Gambal, native from Boston, came in Burgundy in 1993 with wife and children to explore the
vineyards. But, which was just holidays at the beginning turned into a real passion and made them
stay in this wonderful region. In 1996, he starts to trade Burgundy’s wines and in less than a decade has become a leading “négociant” of Grands Crus.

Because there are no great wines without high quality grapes, Alex focuses on the vineyard and the work necessary to have the most ripe and healthy grapes. Regarding the winemaking, he lets nature express each vintage uniquely, by using indigenous yeasts which are naturally on the grapes. Each wine is treated as a living product up to the bottling which is done naturally, by gravity, without filtration and following the phases of the moon.

“The wines of enthusiastic Alex seem to get better every year, thereby proving what we all thought impossible: that a keen Anglophone outsider can make headway in Burgundy” Decanter – February 2006.
