Clarendon Hills

Based in Clarendon, in the south of Australia, this small family winery produces some of the most exceptional varietal wines of the world. Roman Bratasiuk, biochemist, created this amazing vineyard in 1990 and changed irrevocably the landscape of Australian fine wines. Fully committed in winemaking, he is still at the head of Clarendon Hills, helped by his sons. Together, they develop each vintage into new outstanding wines celebrated by all the wine press.

Roman believes in conveying purity and sense of place – in ultimate expressions of classic world varieties. He hand-sources very old, very special, pre-phylloxera bush vines and makes hand-crafted wines, using only natural processes. By doing so, Roman strives to express the unique varietal imprint of a vineyard – by conveying its vintage and location.

Clarendon Hills has 19 vineyards, planting an original species of vines, which aren’t genetically modified. They are extremely sensitive to all conditions in every season, and they react in individual way.

Roman Bratasiuk is one of Planet Earth’s greatest winemakers, and obviously a top-notch viticulturist given his obsession with sourcing extraordinary fruit from ancient McLaren Vale vineyards.” said R. Parker.
