Senza

For the ultimate connoisseur experience, nothing can match the elegance and sophistication of mouth-blown crystal. Senza is a fine example of the art of hand-made wine glasses. Voluptuous finely crafted bowls taper low into extravagantly tall and slender stems. This design provides a truly sensual encounter for the eye and palate.

Crystal glass is produced from a mixture of silver sand, red lead, potash and cullet, which is heated to 1350 degrees centrigrade for 24hours and allowed to cool to 1125 degrees at which temperature it is ready to work. The blower, the headman and the bit-gatherer blow, mould and shape each piece together before transferring t to the control oven. After relieving the inherent stress built up during making, the edge of each piece is smoothed, beveled and polished. Decoration can then begin.

Elaborate cutting or engraved designs can be now introduced by the craftmen whose skills have been passed down from generation to generation. The final process involves immersion in concentrated mineral acids. This dissolve dull surfaces and give the glass its sparkle and brilliance, whilst losing none of the sharp edges and cuts.
