Cabrera

The corrida owes its basis to the bullfighting games organized in the Middle Ages to entertain the Spanish Nobility. Alfonso VII of Leon and Castile, King of Galicia and King of Leon and Castile was a fervent lover of bullfighting since his earliest childhood. At the moment of his coronation as “Emperor of all Spain” in 1135, a corrida was organized in his honor; a Cabrera bull was chosen to be the warrior for this glory fight and a bullring was built for the occasion in the middle of a flamboyant vineyard, in the heart of Castile. While the combat was at its height, Alfonso Vii of Leon and Castile ended the fight quite unexpectedly: he was amazed by the Cabrera’s strength bravety and power. He granted a tailor-made armor in gold for this fearless warrior, an armor that rises to fame its name: Cabrera, the golden Bull. The vineyard where was built the bullring of this unforgettable fight still honor the name of this famous warrior. The product of its fruits always bears the name of this renowned bull: a unique wine in the name of Cabrera, the golden bull.
